Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Taken out of context, knowing that most kids have started with hatchery birds, that was probably good advice.

Around here at our APA shows most kids are in 4-H Clubs that make sure these kids have EXHIBITION bred birds to show. At many shows I attend the Junior class birds are as nice or nicer then the Open class. I guess it is a matter of attending larger APA Shows compared to small County Fair Poultry Shows. I do not go to many County Fair Shows. So, there you MAYBE correct.

In 50 years I have done very well at LARGER APA and ABA SHOWS, so I think I am aware of what is going on. This sort of condescending attitude does not strengthen your point.

Well.. guess I am learning... breeding chickens isn't quite like breeding AKC dogs... Soo in my opinion... I reckon the best thing is to just be honest with people about your birds and well inform them of exactly what you have done before selling them. That way if they have an unexpected color pop up.. they will know WHY it happened... You as the buyer will have to decide whether to take the risk and responsibility of informing the new buyers of your chicks/eggs or not buy from that seller. It will be up to you.

I just want you guys to know.. I love my chickens and I am honest about them :).

I cracked the window open a bit. It was starting to get a bit to hot in here. I love a really nice breeze. That kind that smells sweet from the rain and flowers. I had joined the NYD hatch a long and I did not have any fertle EO egg to hatch, however i did hatch out a beautiful basket of HRIR.

Thank you Delisha! Oh such sweet babies to look at and enjoy when the temperature starts to rise.

You can't get more fair than that ! Any cross in varieties can come back at you in future generations as you know.

Vickie is right Bill...it is very condascending...as if we were all just strings under the goodyear blimp..or leaves blowing around in somone elses wake.. Every one knows how fantastic Doug acres is and admire him..I dont really think he might appreciate as busy as he is being pitted against some of these people who if you took the time to get to know them are really wonderful..sometimes you assume too much...I think if Vickie and Doug met , they would be fast freinds..lots to talk about..and discuss for the future of orps..Vickie is no wall flower..she has done very well and is creative in her thinking...she has a lot to offer..she is a leaf in no ones wake..and one of the best people I have ever met..
I thank God for people like her..

Maybe you arnt aware of what you are saying sometimes..but it is very insulting..maybe you dont mean to be that way ..sometimes borders on threatening..Over time I watch you burn a lot of bridges..I dont beleive in burning bridges..you never know when you might have to cross back over that bridge...I would like you to be a sucess..you will always be a colorful charachter..but right now you need to draw people in to orps not chase them out..you need to be more inclusive not exclusive....you dont need to employ spys and such if you just take the time to talk to that person yourself and dont burn that birdge.

I see a lot of things too..A lot of dropped wings winning championships, probably because that is the best bird at the time..lot of things getting rewarded that should be a focus for correction..the perfect bird hasnt been hatched...yet...but thats the point you cant fix these things when spending energy trying to get people to fighting..long after you die, you hope you promoted these enough that people are very still interested in them..

Alan crosses varieties. Harry took a Cecil Moore Black hen that he bought which came from Superior Farms and bred it to an Ammarell WHITE cock. Alan told me Harry is doing very well with his breeding program.
Saying I am "trolling" when by no definition of that term I am doing, saying I have "condescending attitude" and any other name you want to label me as, may make you feel better. All I am doing is sharing how I and a few of the better Orp breeders in the USA build their birds is all I am doing. Trust me, many here are very impressed with your birds and it is a fact you bred Silkies for many years & that you did well with them is not going to change how I breed my birds. I am not breeding Silkies.
I am breeding Buffs like folks like Doug breed them.
Doug has only bred birds for about a dozen years. Jack has taught Doug how to build birds and WIN MAJOR APA SHOWS.
Pics I take will illustrate more then just size. You seem to be dwelling on the fact I breed for size. But, you do not talk about the width in the rear of my Buffs. You do not consider the width the heads in my birds, the correct color, and the thickness of the bones. These are traits I want to build into my Blacks. I could care less about what color genes are at play in my birds. And neither does Harry, Alan and I know for a fact that other EXHIBITION breeders of other breeds do it as well.
This is an example of what I just mentioned. Doug bred this bird 3 years ago. I paid $20 for him at the Greenville Ohio Show in 2011. He is the ONLY Buff cock I used last year. I am very happy with what he produces. MAYBE in a dozen years of having Orps I can have many more birds like Doug's, or ALan's, or Harry's by following what they say and learning from folks who WIN APA SHOWS.

Here is a bird I got from him this weekend for "FREE". No bridge burned there. Doug's friend Joyce asked me for one of my Buff cockerels this past weekend. Guess what? I am giving her a "FREE" Buff cockerel. WHY? Because we're friends. This is what friends do for each other. Don as well does this for folks who he respects and like to be friends with.
