Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

Renie'sPeeps :

I recently did some serious culling in the rooster yard. I held on to a few boys in my opinion honestly deserve to have a flock of their own. This is a picture of one of the boys.. he is 3/4 English, hatched out Feb 2011, and he is BIG! Anyone interested in him is welcome to PM me.
Thank you,

This boy is in the rooster yard. He is getting alot of sun... soo his feathers are probably going to fade to red if left out there too long. I am hoping to find him and a couple more their own flocks soon.

Fife...It is soo important to display your birds the best you can specially when asking for opinions. Easier said than done.. lol I know. Some days I have to just put the camera down and try again later.

now that mix of english is nice. I often find the english orps to be too loose in feather with too high of a tail for my liking but it looks like you have the best of both worlds there! Great job on the breeding! If hes a cull off, I'm curious what you keep! lol

I have plans only to keep the best hens this yr to breed... for I have purchased 100% English chicks from Joy and there are a few boys in the lot. I still have one black and two blue roos I got from Bama last yr. The black boy is in the roo yard as well because I have a FLOOD of black hens in the coop.

Jeremy... That hen is to die for

For those of you Orp owners that allow your birds to forage, I have a question. Do you find they are good foragers? In other words do they go far and wide in hunt of seeds and bugs a good bit of the day? Or do you find they forage a little but prefer the comforts of home? My Orp seems to think foraging, in general, is going from one feeder to the other. I need to know the tendency of the breed.
Thanks.

IMO it all depends on the head roo. If he encourages foraging far and wide, his loyal followers will be right there beside him. Hope this helps.
