This is Sassy. She came to us in 2005 about 2 months after our Golden Retriever passed away. Acts just like her...

She was pregnant, had 4 kittens. We kept the 2 girls and a family member took the 2 boys.

This is Tippy, back when she was a kitten. We got her in 2008. I fostered her and her 4 brothers and sisters and her mom. I got them when they were about 4ish days old. They came from a kill shelter in Brooklyn. Got them the day before they were due to be killed. She almost died at a week and a half old from pneumonia. She acts a little goofy sometimes, I think its from the lack of oxygen when she could barely breathe. So, I kept her as a Christmas "present".

Sadly, her momma died during her spay. They think she was allergic to the anesthetic.

This is Oscar and Angel, who came from a family's barn across the field from us. Working through a wonderful feral spay/neuter organization (based on donations/volunteers only), we were able to trap and spay/neuter 12 adult cats, who still live in her barn, but now aren't producing 30+ kittens every year. Although I was able to place several of the kittens (including the two we took in), I ended up taking more than 20 to the shelter (the majority of which were probably put down, as many had respiratory issues), having two euthanized (they were in such bad shape), and a few tiny ones that didn't make it despite attempts to bottle feed.
Angel is sweet and pretty, but not the sharpest crayon in the box (

), and DH adores Oscar, who's doglike in his behaviors...loves to go for walks down through the woods when we take the dogs

I'm dying over the chicken sweaters. Love it.

Also, Foxy the horse is gorgeous. Lovely animals everyone has.

We just got back from a 4 year tour in Okinawa, where there are strays absolutely everywhere. We fostered about 30 animals. These are the ones we brought back with us:

Mirabel, best dog in the world, rescued from the pound:

Olive, who we found in a sugar-cane field, massively pregnant (she had her adorable puppies three days later):

Feneris- A full grown Big, wolf/shepherd mix that had protected his woman from her bad husband. He tore the guys arm for hitting her and the guy kicked the dog out. He spent a little while as a stray then decided I was his new Mom. I agreed pretty soon and he was wonderful. He had great manners and loved cuddling with me. I was safe anywhere too.

Ashley (Russian Blue) was a gift from my brother who said a lady was going to take the litter to the pound the next day. I wasn't allowed pets where I was living, so I just hoped the landlord wouldn't see her till I could find somewhere else to move to. I had her till she passed at 9 and 1/2 years.

Still miss her.

Baby was a grown Maine Coone cat that had been been through 2 homes already before I met him. His 1st Mom bottle raised him then went broke and moved out abandoning him and his sister. The neighbors took them in later, but they had health problems and couldn't keep them. They didn't tell me he was pretty sick, but he was a sweetheart, so I still loved him till he passed a couple years later.

Gabriel was a white Angora that my brother found wandering scared in a Ross parking lot. He was tiny, greasy and scared of the world. I found out he was solid white after lots of bathing and a week or so later, he decided humans were okay after all. I had him a couple years but had to move. Now he has it made at my Mom in laws house.

Raen, Gorgeous shots!!!
I've got Miss Magic, named after a horse that I used to ride who had recently passed.
People often misjudge her, thinking her sweet and cuddly. Of course, she misleads them with faces like this:

Then she shows her true side whenever the dog comes too close:

She's really quite viscous.

This is Stanley - the most amazing dog I have ever owned. I got him from PetFinders.com. Apparently, he had been neglected or had been running loose for a long time and was extremely emaciated. We were lucky enough to have this wonderful dog in our lives for 6 years. Unfortunately, last summer we had to have him put to sleep. We miss our Stan the Man...

The large lab, Sarah, we rescued from an abusive situation 7 years ago. Romeo, the cat is from the shelter. We adopted him last year when we lost my beloved Charlie cat, who was also a rescue. We have never gotten a cat from anywhere but the animal shelter. We also have a 14 year old lady cat who we have had since she was an adolescent.
