post your chicken coop pictures here!

Just the floor and wall frames. I found my husband looking up ideas for enlarging the coop and building an enclosed run.

T Jordan let him double it and if he triples it, EVEN BETTER! Chicken math is a real issue ya know. Just keep an open conversation going with him on what you want and stick to your guns on the issues the birds need his plans could miss. (Been there, done that twice!) Also if he is up to it and things allow for it expense wise try to get him to build the run bigger. Even if you think you have extra room outside you could put small pens out for pairs or whatever else down the road. (Wish the guys would have went 6ft farther on my run expansion last year, husband said now he does too.)

Well if he wants to make it bigger u better let him for all the chicken math

As I know all about in less than two weeks I went from 8 chickens to 15 and still counting
Lol, Ronda Red just wait until you are 3 yrs in to having birds! I have been told I have gone completely crazy chicken lady this spring. With 2 coops, 40 birds, 12 eggs being sat on and a turkey on the way I don't see it. Lololol!

Obviously a serious case of crazy chicken lady (or in some cases chicken daddy) denial...

It's becoming much more prevalent these days!

You can tell it's a desperate case when a half dozen chickens (read 40+ and growing!) live in housing better than 50% of the human population!

It's all but terminal when other species begin to join the crowd ( turkeys, ducks, guineas, etc)

At that point, you might as well just give up and "roll with it"

We keep making jokes that our chickens will live better than us. But the other night it rained and we had two leaks in the roof of our home and notta one in the coop...

Gotta get to work haha.

Building codes do have a constructive purpose. My coop was built to code as are all my buildings. You get out what you put in :) Now that I've cleaned up the back of the barn and scaped it i wont have puddles in my barn any more :)

The waterer is the one on the left with the red vertical nipple in the pic above. Here you can see one of my hens getting a drink. As I live in Colorado I have a bird bath heater I put in it during the winter, hence the cords you see. This came as an accessory to the coop I purchased. It's made from 4'' pvc so the heater will fit. For some reason the last 6 to 8 inches is reduced down. Personally I would of left it all 4'' so the heater could rest closer to the nipple and help to keep it from freezing even more. If you would like more detailed pics perhaps I could take some tomorrow, it's currently snowing here.
I was wondering about what kind of reservoir you used for the water. My bottles are nipple water feeders and they love them. We made them from plastic water bottles and a bike water bottle bracket with screw in nipples.

Neat thing about pipe, you can make it any length you want and add any kind of filler tube etc. You want. You can use 'Y's and get as fancy as you can imagine. Just need to remember to allow access to install heaters etc.. You can make them modular and screw parts together so they can be taken down as well. I knew all that but took the lazy route with a bucket. I'm already working out a design for my layout :)
