post your chicken coop pictures here!

Thanks... Whenever I paint anything, I like to choose a new color, so I can see where all the work went.

So I'm undecided, either:

Red with white trim or a warm mid slate gray with deep charcoal gray trim.
Of those, I would like the red/white trim or a yellow/white trim

A lot has been accomplished by myself and with the help of my Va. GD and GS.....Its not as pretty as most on here but....I have worked hard on it..LOL...probably have built it twice by now.

Made a lot of mistakes and had to redo or rework just about everything to make it work. Learned so much..,,,,,might could build the next one the right way the first time!

May have to block off the nest and I do have to finish wiring my walls and opening (ventilation/etc), Went out and cut me down a tree!.

My GD drug it up and trimmed the smaller limbs, help measure and put it up as my roost. It is about 5" higher than the nests box shelving. I had lowered that shelving as was suggested from the last picture..
This door is functional but needs the latches put on it at the top and bottom as well as reinforcing the hinges. My DH says barn doors are not this sturdy but my door has to be better! LOL

Planning on putting another latch on the other side tomorrow. This one has the slide on it and I can hardly get it hooked or unhooked! THEN...I have a stain/sealer to start on the new woods. Started cleaning up around the coop this evening.. I have hardware wire ready to go up on the run.. Without my grands.,,may take another couple of weeks! Its going to be the hardest physically I think! GD wants so badly to get my pullets before she goes back this weekend. May be able to do that since I need to keep them inside for a little while....

You know, after all the blood (your finger man!), sweat (assumption on my part, but probably accurate), and tears (sawdust in the eyes?) you put into that project, why not make it positively glow? I mean it IS a chicken house, is it not? I vote for egg yolk gold! and the trim can be a nice chartreuse like the color under your (hopefully recovering) finger nail!

All in favor?

I might could go Yellow....

If by inside you meant in the coop: I kept mine in the coop for just over two weeks out of necessity. We weren't able to put up a run until this last weekend. We still haven't completed it. Sides are just about 5 feet tall so far, will get taller and the roof goes on this weekend. Anyway, to my point. Your chickens will be fine in the coop as long as they have enough room, for a couple weeks until you get around to building the run. They seemed to get along alright, no blood from pecks, yea. Also as a bonus, they were in there so long that by the second night they were all back into the coop apx. A half hour before the auto door on sensor closed. Let's hope that when they start free ranging they know to go back there.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I keep trying to remind myself that they are just chickens. That's what everyone says to me. Well, I wanna do the best we can, as I'm sure you do as well. Paint makes everything look better :). I'd say as long as it's draft free and rain proof and predator proof your good. Google how to build a ...... And I'm sure you'll find what you need. Good luck. :)))
