post your chicken coop pictures here!

Very nice looking set up you have there! I'm sure your chickens appreciate it all too! You're gonna love that automatic door so you don't have to worry about letting them out or locking them in at night to protect from predators! Just think... you and your handyman will be able to go out to dinner and a few drinks and not worry about chickens!

It's a tractor not a coop but still wanted to share. Built the whole thing woth pressure treated 2x4 and plywood for under $80. Got the wood from the 70% off section at the depot. It has retractable wheels and is 10x12

So is anyone tempted to put some parakeets or finches in their chicken run ??? All that 1/2'' by 1/2'' wire cloth makes it little bird safe.

We raised American and English Budgerigars - also had a Cockatiel that drove us nuts with his screechy noises but he was fun. Anyway unless you want a lot of little budgie droppings on your chickens' backs and heads I wouldn't advise keeping budgies in the same enclosure. If you think chicken molt is a mess you haven't seen anything yet until you enter a budgie aviary! 200 little budgies will give you enough feathers to sweep up into one pillowcase every day!

That was a good picture you put in my head.... No little birds for us! I was also picturing the screens and walls with splattered poop.
Not good!

HaHa! Didn't want to discourage you since little birds are fun but they take as much time if not more than chickens. Talk about poop on the walls - we had a Blue-fronted Amazon parrot that had his very own 10x10 bedroom in the house with his stand/cage in the center of the completely empty room. We lined the floor with painter's plastic sheeting to make cleanups easier from his tray droppings and feed. You know, that little guy managed to splatter his poop on the walls and window from the middle of the room. Messy bird. We sold him after 10 months! The 6-montth juvenile chicken (without a diaper!) I now have in the house for quarantine is less messy than that parrot was!

We have six chickens and took the plans for a 6x6 shed and tweaked it. We stil need to do the run, paint the outside, and I plan to put some flower boxes under the windows but for the most part it's finished. It's perfectly imperfect. :)
