post your chicken coop pictures here!

Yeah I love rooster dialogue:

"I'm over here!"
"Well I'm over here!"
"Well I'm over here!"
"Still over here!"
"Me too!"

Hehehe Yep! What really cracks me up is that mine seems to always get the last word in. He was the dominant one at his previous home. He's a good boy. :)

I'm not sure who this was directed at. We only put in one window for now cuz we already had it available, but there is more venting.
Yes, it was you...sorry 'bout that! I was just wondering because in the other photos I didn't see any other ventilation other than that one window.

How do those of you who have coops in hot places deal with 100+ temps.

We get quite a few 100+ temps during the summer. Im thinking if I put a bucket air conditioner in the coop it might help
I do not have a lot of natural shade in my back yard I have a tarp over part of the run and the coop shades an area underneath.

I put some icebags our yesterday and that seemed to help them through the worst of it. I also give them watermelon and make sure they have cool water to drink.

You're doing the right things to help them with the heat. I would highly suggest that since your temps get so high (I'm familiar with the Antioch area from days gone by)...you really should put a permanent roof over your entire run area...more roof equals more shade...good luck!

I will more than likely do that. I have a tarp over half of it now.

After much research and trying to be practical/dual purpose. I built the coop on site from scratch with my hord of leftover materials from past construction projects. Basically, the materials were taking up my real estate in my shop and needed the space.

Now that you have all that space in your shop, you have no materials to work with in it!

I presume you are going to skirt hardware cloth from the sill to the ground? Don't want to try to drag a broody hen out from under there or have woodchucks take up residence as a neighbor of mine did once.
