Yeah I love rooster dialogue:
"I'm over here!"
"Well I'm over here!"
"Well I'm over here!"
"Still over here!"
"Me too!"

That is looking good!! Is there a secondary window on the other side?
Yes, it was you...sorry 'bout that! I was just wondering because in the other photos I didn't see any other ventilation other than that one window.I'm not sure who this was directed at. We only put in one window for now cuz we already had it available, but there is more venting.
You're doing the right things to help them with the heat. I would highly suggest that since your temps get so high (I'm familiar with the Antioch area from days gone by)...you really should put a permanent roof over your entire run area...more roof equals more shade...good luck! How do those of you who have coops in hot places deal with 100+ temps.
We get quite a few 100+ temps during the summer. Im thinking if I put a bucket air conditioner in the coop it might help
I do not have a lot of natural shade in my back yard I have a tarp over part of the run and the coop shades an area underneath.
I put some icebags our yesterday and that seemed to help them through the worst of it. I also give them watermelon and make sure they have cool water to drink.
I will more than likely do that. I have a tarp over half of it now. You're doing the right things to help them with the heat. Have you thought of planting some bushes/trees of some sort along the side that get the hottest afternoon sun? Might help, you never know!I will more than likely do that. I have a tarp over half of it now.
Im actually thinking of planting a couple of bushes in the Run itself Just not sure which kind.Have you thought of planting some bushes/trees of some sort along the side that get the hottest afternoon sun? Might help, you never know!![]()
