the roof is not metal...it's some kinda soft corrugated roof panel I found at Lowes...it's like wavey asphalt shingle stuff...the airy part is the run for when I have to leave them penned up...I'll be cutting some windows into the actual house part shortly and post some pics.I love Odie's Coop - This is the kind of open airy coops we have to have in SoCal. Always hot here even when it rains. Speaking of which hitting a tin roof can scare the cr*p out of sleeping chickens. To muffle hailstone weather we used tarps over the roof to muffle the noise - later we got a pop-up canopy over the little coop.
Nice open coop for TX weather!

We made it down to Taranaki when I was there (amazing beaches!) and did a bunch of stuff up around Auckland, but that was all. Mostly Jim showed me all his favorite surf spots, LOL!
Sure wish I could find somebody in the Okanagan to build me a coup! My daughter with disabilities would love to help take care of chickens! I've looked into prebuilt- but they are all Chinese crappolla!
I buried the hardware cloth and then put up 2x4's around top and bottom.Wow - that is a nice and fast build. What method did you use to secure from digging predators? Buried wire? Wire skirting around the pen? Cinder blocks or paver stones around the perimeter?
That swing set ensemble in your photo will make a cute useable converted coop one day too!
