Pips & Peeps is already working on chocolate ameraucanas (choc, not dun); you might speak with her. Thanks! My plan was to find Chocolate white eggers so that I can start from a blank slate to get project Chocolate Ameraucanas (hence why I was hoping for some white egg layers). Does anyone know if someone is working on Choc Leghorns? I am willing to give that a shot to get what I want, although I have been working through the genetics and... do you think that if a male in the third generation (they will have egg color of either brown/brown, brown/white and white/white) would show characteristics of a white egg layer? Is that trait strongly linked to distinguishing characteristics (e. white ear lobes)?
smoothmule - Do you know of anyone who has Dun and Black Sumatras?
chickened - That was the only one that I could find, but only white crested chocolate. I don't want to take on another characteristic that I need to breed out if I can help it! (crest)
They are sunbleached right now, they are Dun Sumatra's. Large fowl size. I'm looking for a bantam hen now too.Are these Sumatra hens? Are they Dun or Khaki?
I have chocolate hens that are large fowl and lay blue eggs but not white,Is there anyone with a Chocolate colored standard-sized bird that lays white eggs?
I have a small dun sumatra hen, she looks like the size of a bantam x LF that I got at a swap. She looks good but if you plan to use her to breed more dun birds, she obviously has some red in her because lots of her sons (when mated to a black) have red hackle/saddle.Does anyone have a solid dun or khaki hen of any breed (bantam) for sale?
Thanks, I'll pass on her but only because of the red so I don't start off having to breed it out. If she has red showing, she may be wheaten based and that is a pain to make black.
