We are not quite sure who's it is. My husband said it was one of these two. I was at work so I missed it but whichever one it was. She sure was a happy Momma!
Discovering that first egg is almost like magic- you have been looking, looking, and looking and when it's finally there- you almost don't believe it- it's actually there!
I had my first blue egg (pix on page 139 of this thread) for breakfast this morning- and it had dark sunset orange yolk- absolutely DEEEEElicious!
We got our first egg today!! whoohoo! I think it was one of my RIR's as she as the most developed comb and wattle. What is the consensus on storing fresh, unwashed eggs? No refrigeration for the first couple weeks? This egg also just came off a wazine 17 worm treatment two weeks ago - I have not yet floowed up with pour-on ivermectin. Is it safe to eat?
I am so excited!!! I got my first egg this morning. I heard my Barred Rock squawking this morning and I thought "She's laying an egg!" When I went out to let them out of the coop, she was sitting in the nest box and she jumped out and all I saw was the golf ball. I went out this afternoon to scrape the poop board and behind the golf ball in the hay I found this!!!
I am jumping up and down! She is 20 weeks old and now I have another doing the squat!! I'm so glad I got chickens - it's amazing
Here's my first egg (with a large from the store):
