Prairie Bluebell Egger

We have 1 Prairie Bluebell that we got at Tractor Supply. She is right at 5 months. Like you, I haven't found much online about them. She is our only experience with her breed. As she has grown her coloration has changed greatly. I could have convinced people each stage was a different bird. She was browns with a brown stripe down her back when we got her. She looked more like a woodland bird than a chicken to me. We named her Coille, which is Gaelic for forest.

She grayed out and then the comb and tan came out and now looks like the attached picture. She has yet to lay any eggs. We got 4 different chicks at the beginning of September. Two started laying this week, a Barred Rock and an Ancona. She is the smallest of the 4. She is a strong flier and likes to be up high.

Thank you. I looked at some pictures and she does look like a Silver Leghorn. Tractor Supply must have mislabeled. I also just figured out that the Buff Orpington pullet I thought I bought was Rhode Island Red. I kept thinking when is this bird going to start looking like the pictures I have seen? The color and shapes is all wrong. I pulled up the picture of the trough they were in when I bought them and they were sharing space with RIR unsexed. Now I am hoping the 50% chance female is on my side. I think the feathers looked curved, not pointed, but new to this. No eggs yet at 21-22 weeks. I need better pics to post, right now this is all I have. Any RIR exoerience?

Sorry, I did end up doing that. I did not mean to hijack the post. Since someone was able to tell me what I thought was a PBB wasn't, it spurned the thought about the other bird.

No problem, just gets confusing at times ... Yours is a pullet, at 5mos, watch for the reddening of the comb & wattles, then the squatting.

Thanks for the input. Others agree, which is a great relief. I did not have rooster plan.

Hey all, I bought a Prairie Bluebell Egger from a lady who lives near me, and I am just curious if anyone else has experience with this breed? It seems to be a Hoover's Hatchery exclusive and I can't find a ton of information on them besides what is on their site. Apparently they are all supposed to look completely different.

I have one too! Have you had any blue eggs yet? Mine has not laid yet.

Well it turns out they are both hens, but after the smaller hen laid a few eggs she became egg-bound. She has passed the egg which is a normal egg but she's still walking funny. I hope this doesn't keep happening. They are very friendly hens with pretty feathers.

I just saw this i’m sorry! She has not laid yet, she is about 4.5 months old and her comb and wattles are starting to become a little more red so hopefully soonish!!

I notice a darker comb too!!!
