I have read it a million times and every time I get tears in my eyes. There is always some news story about a child or children that I can relate to not to mention the children in my life including my own that Ithink of every time I read it.

"The deceased are being dragged to the side of roads, covered in sheets and left. We don't live in the hardest hit areas but even so there are many bodies.

Everything in Haiti (PRE earthquake) runs on generators and inverters and batteries == sometimes (pre earthquake) we get a city power current.

Now there is no city current. Right now the Internet companies need to use diesel and generators to offer us service. It won't likely last ... and will come and go. We'll do our best to stay in touch. Diesel is going to go fast and will be needed for any sort of communication.

Right now I am anxiosly waiting for any news that my group is on it's way out of Grande Goave... My daughter didn't go this round but some friends of mine are there.... I have confirmation that they are fine but they are out of supplies and the water pipes are broke and they were due back tomarrow...I worry because my friends (twins) have Lupus and they need medication soon.. They only took enough for the trip and if they are laid over too long.... The roads are all blocked so the only way out is Helicopter...One of the group is injured with broken ribs... She will leave first I hope.

There are already groups there... donate to a group that is there already... that has a connection with the ppl. There are many... It isn't a big research project to find one. In fact a Haitian singer from there has a site that all you do is dial his number (altought it is plugged up right now with calls) you dial the number and it deducts 5 dollars using your phone bill. that is pretty simple... As for me... I will donate to Mennonite Mission Commitee they are already there. There are alot of churches that go in weekly and could really use the funds appropriately.

The problem with the poorest country in the world is deforestation... they cut down the trees because they need to cook for their impoverished families...(no electricity) and they are cutting down the trees just to live... Their houses are made out of mud and concrede to hold up again the storms from the sea... They have no foundations.... Without forest in this high mountain region when the rains come the mud slides down the mountains taking out any exisiting roads and flooding their homes... This was on a good day... The region was just hit with the worst dissaster it has seen in 200 years... without a healthcare system already... global charity is the only thing that will help this incredibly impoverished ppl. Oh and thier average wage is 2 dollars a month... and they have to BUY water. I think if they owned chickens they would be considered well off.

I pray for all the folks going as part of the relief there as well. Starving, thirsty, people will do crazy things.

It wouldn't be worth the expense of sending them. Ideal is on here... wonder if we could pay for them to ship them... cause Im sure you'd need special permits and such

Good thought on the sending bird thing...but disease is a big problem for the ppl...I am not sure that would be wise... Currently with no water for ppl and no food it would be difficult to take care of animals.... But later on???? hmmm... I know that there must be import laws etc...
