Predators and the Moral Dilemma

Years ago I had a guy that lived down the road from me that raised coon dogs. Fro some reason he started when he got home from work he left them off their chains. They would always end up at my house, 6 dogs total.
I was nice at first. I caught a couple took them home and asked that he keep them on his property as they were harrassing my livestock and it was only a matter of time before they turned into killers. Well I did this three or four times and realized it wasn't going to stop. So I shot two, the other four ran off to quick or I would have got them too. I didn't seem them for a week or so and then one evening I heard the geese and chickens making a racket and when I looked out I saw one going under the chicken run.
I got two more.
The next night the guy came a knocking at the door. He asked if I had seen his dogs. My reply, "no haven't seen them today at all". No lie told.

and that was the end of the coon dogs on my property.
We had a huge problem with dumped dogs. I hated killing everyone of them but one isn't left a choice other than to not raise livestock and that wasn't an option for me.
