Prefab coops?

That would be the perfect size for them. But, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go bigger. You never know when you will come across another breed you just have to have or one of your hens will go broody and you'll want to let her hatch chicks, etc.

Try going to your local re-store... run by Habitat for Humanity. They often have all kinds of building materials like doors and windows. We built a coop for our chicken tractor out of hollow core doors.

Was just there today and regret not buying a nice door I saw...

Step one...
Decide on how many chickens you plan to have.
Step two...
Do the math! 4 square foot per bird in the coop. If keeping 4 birds a 16 square foot would be the bare minimum to avoid behavior issues. If feed, water, and nests will be inside subtract that footage from usable footage.
Step three...
Get that graph paper out! Draw it out a few times bearing in mind that siding comes in a 4x8 sheet. That way you can make a cut diagram so you don't have a lot of waste.
Step four...
Stick to your plan! If you drew it out for windows that are a certain size stick to that size when shopping for supplies.
Spontaneous purchases will throw the whole plan out of whack.
Step five...
Get building! Those chicks grow fast!

Oh and a gallon of oops paint at Home Depot is only 9 bucks.

Sounds like you've already decided to build your own coop, good for you! We had hoped to but my husband is crazy busy and there was no way it was going to happen.
We bought one from Coastal Farm and Ranch who gets them from a company called The Shed Yard. http://www.theshedyard.com/standard-chicken-coops/
They have pre-made coops and kits you can purchase that are very similar. They are pretty pricey but also incredibly built.
So for anyone else out there looking for a high quality premade coop or kit, go check them out, we highly recommend.
