What type of roost material do your domestic birds birds prefer? Natural saplings & branches? 1X2 on edge? 1X2 flat? 2X4 flat? 2X4 on edge? metal pipe? Wooden dowel or broom handle?
Personally, my chickens will perch on branches before they will perch in the edge of a stick of lumber, the same height. They even have a ladder made out of sapplings to use to reach the perch that'a about 6' up (makes it easier to clean up under)
My turkeys like the branches but I've swapped them to 2X4 on edge due to their rapidly increasing weight and there is 10 of them.
