Preparing to set call and pekin duck eggs! Hatch day should be March 4, 2021 if all goes well!

I keep mine at around 35% but if 47% is working for you in your area, it's probably fine. You could weigh them at least at first just to double check.

10 days is the longest you can safely collect before a drop in viability.

I usually don't do cooling but I do mist Calls for the last few days before lockdown.

Could be. Also could be that they got too hot or too cold, depending on when this was and your climate.
Thanks so much for your insight!
I live in Illinois up near Wisconsin. This humidity has worked well for my pekins but I think I’ll try to lower it a bit for the calls. Last hatch I used this humidity and the air cell size was decent. I will definitely double check and go off weight.

Ok thanks. I didn’t know that. I was thinking around a week. I usually don’t store my pekin eggs very long.

I’ll plan on misting later into incubation.

I’m thinking that batch got too hot because it was in early August. Now that I think about it, the low viability was probably due to the fact that she was a newer layer.

Very much appreciate the help! :)

Is there a specific reason you choose to set duck eggs at 100 instead of 99.5 though?
I'm just curious cause I've never asked. 😋
I’d like to know this too because I’ve hatched Jumbo pekins for years and have always kept the temp at 99.5. I’ve had good luck with those but am wondering if 100 is better.

Calls specifically :) Because Raven told me to. She told me that she found she had better hatches on Calls when she set it to 100 instead of 99.5. Being how many Calls she's hatched, I took her advice, haha.

Thanks for explaining it. Sounds like a good idea. I set the incubator temp to 100 and the humidity is at 36. It is running stable and ready for the call eggs! :celebrate
I put 4 pekin eggs in yesterday so they should be 2 days ahead by the time I put the calls in. Not quite 24 hours yet for the pekins but I’m hoping to candle them along with all the call eggs when the calls are on day 4! I’m so excited!!
