Producing Calico Silkies

I have been working on breeding Splash to a BBO F1, that is a daughter of a silver partridge.. That's how I got my first one. So my theory goes, Splash to Partridge would probably be the route to go.

What's a BBO?

I have a double silkie (F2) daughter of my silver partridge roo and a cochin mix (out of a red cochin hen) She's red and cream in color, and I plan on breeding her to a son of my calico splash rooster.. He's blue with buff in his neck feathers..

Both genders can be Splash Calico.

I have a poor quality Splash partridge/calico colored boy, but he's from a show quality breeder though.

He's Splash. Thought he was a lighter blue too, until I noticed he was pretty Splashy.

I’ve seen lighter blues with those darker patches, if that’s what you’re talking about?

He's got spots in his thighs too, & throughout his saddles.

This year I got quite a few 'calico splash' babies.. the females tend to have more gray in the head regions.. Satins and silkes with calico. The one nearest is a calico. Dad was a light partridge like the guy in the back, mom was a blue daughter from calico splash roo.

These two satin kids (white) have blue and orange specks

Also have some in the watermelon box brooder.
