Production Red Chickens will not lay!**PICTURES ON PAGE 2**

I recently bought 3 Leg Horns 1 Tetra tint and 5 Productoin reds. I was getting 6-9 eggs a day from all of them (they were laying their eggs under a tarp on hay bales). Last saturday I installesd three nesting boxes I found a few white eggs on the ground and one light brown egg from the tetra tint inside the nesting box. And for the past few days I have been only getting 4 eggs a day ( 3 from the Leghorns 1 from the tetra) 0 from my production reds. They are 25 weeks old. Does anyone know why any of the production reds arent laying??

Did they find a new hiding spot?

I have searched everywhere in the chicken coop, they have no hiding places!

From what I understand, they will quit laying if they are upset about a change in their environment (like the nesting boxes)...they will eventually get used to it though. Maybe someone else has a better answer??

And.... unless you are providing some additional lighting, it continues to get darker and darker.

My welsummers are at 25 weeks... been lighting...nothing... freeloaders!

They also look very healthy. Can they molt at 6mos????
