My production red chicken started laying 9 days ago. She’s laid 6/9 days since then, but always in the afternoon and sometimes as late as 3-4pm. (She just laid an egg about 45 min ago), yesterday she laid an egg around noon, so it’s much later today. Is this normal for a chicken who just started laying? I thought they usually laid in the morning? Also is 6/9 days normal for a production red? I’d hoped for an egg every day! I’d appreciate some wisdom from someone with more experience! Thank you! :)

They can lay anytime of the day. Since it takes roughly 25-26 hours to make an egg, they almost always are laid later each day until they hold them until morning. New layers will often drop them from the roosts until they get used to holding them in.
