Project: Crested EE

So..... I'm removing one of the f1 crested ee from the project. She is too afraid of roosters and change. So to make her life better I'm looking for a new home for her with only hens.

Currently she is inside because she was wedged under the nesting boxes for two days.🫤
Poor thing. Sometimes they're just too - special for breeding.
I had a birds like that before.

Yeah and I don't like seeing her miserable. I already have someone that would make a good home. She's just rehomeing a rooster and can then take her. For now she's in the house in a tote/ homemade crate.

Sounds like you're taking good care of her. Poor thing, she was probably super stressed.

Maybe you should use some cream legbar they have a crest and already have the blue egg genetics
No. Tho I did consider them but they have the wrong coloring for the project. It would make the project longer just getting back to the coloring I want.

Also no offense but I just don't like the look of them my self. I would rather start with breeds I like the look of than those I don't. (It's the barring on them, and the leg color) Plus I had the equivalent of Ameraucana back in the 1980s when they where just getting started. I was in grade school then and a dear neighbor gave them to me for 4H.

Super cool project you’re working on! Excited to follow along for updates!
Should be some updates come Feb or March. Will be hatching a test of six eggs to see if the girls like the Crevecoeur rooster. If not hes going away and the Lavender Ameraucana will be over them. Then I need to get a few of my Spitz in with them or see about some more Crevecoeur hens.

I really like the size on the Crevecoeur over the Polish and the Spitz as well. They are a dual purpose bird as is the Ameraucana and I would like to keep that on the crested EE.

This project will be changing up after a few hatches off the Crevecoeur rooster. I'll hold some of those back and switch out to the lavender Ameraucana rooster for 3 to 6 months. After that going to sell off about half the pen and all the Spitzhaubens I have will be joining them. I have two nearly white Spitzhaubens that will go up for sale along with the other half of the current hens in this project.

Will probably not hatch more than a dozen at a time from it as I have limited space and feed bill is getting up there now.
