Pullet or Cockerel?

Our classroom Barred Rock is 6 weeks old.

Roo or Hen?

I don't know. I've had barred rock pullets with large combs like that, and it look yellow to me. I'd say 50/50 right now.

It looks like a Pullet to me. But I agree with Tahai, it's still 50/50.

Could go either way, it's hard to say right now - I've had em comb out early and still be female.

But it's so cool you get to have them in your classroom!!

My barred rocks always get big combs pretty quickly. I used to panic about it but I think it's just normal for the breed. I'd look under the fluff to see if sickle or hackle feathers are coming in.

Yes, this! Also their personality can be a good clue. My Barred Rock hens have been very sweet & docile.
