I will take a picture. Not nearly as nasty as it sounds. I have a baby pullet and noticed its left eye shut this evening. When I looked closer it looked like the lid was slightly crusty. I'm not sure if her eye was injured and running... she closed it to sleep, and now it's just crusted shut, or what?

I'm almost tempted to moisten her eye with a warm damp cloth to loosen it.. I think it might just be crusted shut. I'm not sure and i DON'T want to hurt her. Both of her eyes seemed fine today so I can't tell if this was an injury. She seems fine in every other regard. Please let me know if you have any words of wisdom.

I'm guessing this is more or an injury vs. disease but I'm not sure. Thanks so much.

also FYI I have been searching for help on the forum but haven't found anything that sounds similar, haven't FOUND. I'm sure there are threads that pertain to this.

I would use a warm wet rag to soften the crust so you can inspect the eye. Do it very gently, the skin around their eye is delicate. See what you find when she opens it. She may have scratched her eye or gotten something in it to cause irritation. Let us know what you find.

Hey eye is open this morning. Just a little crusty around the edge of the lid but not 'bad'. I'm hoping it was just a minor injury.
