Pusey shoulder

Came home tonight and found one of our 6 week old australorp with a terrible looking wound. Smelled and covered in what seemed like puss. Wasn’t there earlier in the day. I initially thought another bird had pooped on it.

brought it inside to clean in up. She was very cooperative, let us wash without a lot of noise. Doesn’t appear to be in pain or bleeding. Didn’t find a wound either.
Any ideas?

First paragraph, you said there was a terrible wound; second paragraph, you said there was no wound. Letting us know which it is would let us start in the right direction. Also, pics if there is a wound.

Appeared like a wound but now that it’s cleaned up, seems more skin or feather related?
