So it's a bit of a story...
The flock of 17 decided to attack one of my older Mistral Gree/barred rock hens along with her matching sister Beth. They pecked the older hen (Chanty)'s eye out. They gave Beth a few cuts but nothing like poor Chanty. Anyways I took care of Chanty and she recovered. Her and Beth live in a dog crate inside the coop with a seperated little pen made of chicken wire. Because we live in a very cold climate I put them in a smaller crate inside the coop at night so they can stay warmer. It's been working OK, but yesterday morning when I went to put them in their big pen, Beth's vent was entirely covered in poop, puss and blood and it was disgusting. I cleaned it off with a cloth soaked in warm water and underneath the vent was a lot of puss that I couldn't get off so I put some kid's polysporin on that to ward off infection is there was any (might not have been the smartest thing now I see
). Then, I put her back in the crate with her buddy (who doesn't peck at the other birds). She stayed in the crate all day (very unusual) and when I went to put her in for the night her face and comb was looking blue. It wasn't from the cold as her buddy was perfectly fine.
She's been pooping but she has to do this exageratted movement before she can poop (to crack the stuff over her butt). I brought her inside and she looked a bit better. We gave her some crushed up eggshells for calcium and she ate it.
Lastly, when she sort of blinks her vent (I can't really explain it) it's all red and actually looks split.
She stinks like dead mice and is trembling.
Some one please help us
I don't know what's wrong
