Congrats, Chicken Tamer. I can't wait to see your pics. Do they have chipmunk stripes?

Hey everybody! First chick is out! Whee! About six minutes ago. I still have houseguests so probably won't get to stop in before tomorrow. One hatched chickie chirping away, four pips, two doing nothing yet but those are the one with tiny air cells so I'm not holding out too much hope. Cya tomorrow, if not before!

Have fun, I know this is gonna be an eggciting night for you. Can't wait to see your pics.

Looking up more info on pharaoh quail. They have a shorter incubation time than i originally thought as in they are due tomorrow. I think I see a little chip in the big end side of one egg and there is something on the out side of another one it showed up in the last hour. is it normal for stuff to come out while they are starting to hatch. If I knew how to post a pic on here I would.

Again. congrats to everyone! I'm going to be setting again, sometime in mid week this coming week (I have eggs being shipped out to me on Monday, more Seramas)...soooo I'll be doing it all over :D

Keep posting pics as your babies grow! I will post pics of BoogerNugget as she gets bigger :D (the name... yeah.... my sister keeps insisting her name is Booger and my friend is screeching "Nooo..it's NUGGET!" So unofficially, it is BoogerNugget. Not pretty, but it fits LOL!

Hey everybody, I thought chicks were supposed to be all tired out after hatching?!! The two that have made it out so far have been doing nothing but peep-peep-peeping and trying to climb up onto the eggs and out of the incubator since they hatched -- five or six hours now! Yes, they crash for mini naps, and then they're right back at it. They already knocked one egg over so pip side was down -- I think that one's a goner; they keep climbing up on and sitting on the one that's *trying* to hatch... I have hooligans, here! Tomorrow morning I think I'm taking them out whether everyone who's going to hatch is done hatching or not -- I think the other eggs probably stand a much better chance of survival without these two baby godzillas using them as a jungle gym!

This is starting to drive me crazy. Last night one egg had a small little crack and this morning it had a tiny hole and several others had tiny cracks. Was sure that by tonight would have at least one hatch but so far everything is looking about the same. So one egg is now 24 hours out from the first crack. I've done everything to make sure humidity is up but of course my gauge quit working a few days ago. I really hope everything is going ok in there and they are just holding off for the expected hatch date. Ugh...didn't realize hatching eggs would be so suspenseful.

AS long as your humidity is up high 75 but not over 80 they should be ok
Sometimes they take a long long time to get to a zip and out
But if you had star cracks yesterday they should be hatching some go fast some really slow..But . 24 hours from the star crack.hummm.. they could be shrink wrapped from low humiditiy since you dont know what it is..
.I have to keep adding and adding water until one or 2 hatch then it goes up on its own usually .This time some of mine hatched and it didnt go jup ..but might
But .MAYBE. its the humidity
High Humidity is crucial at the last when they pip once the air get in the membrane too dry they wont be able to zip if the membrane drys around them Stuck. Can you go get a hydrometer? Pet store maybe .See if humidity is the problem
If they are shrink wrapped dont know if it will help now to raise it now but cant hurt to try . and might soften the membrane. I am not sure about that. but the egg absorbs humidity from the air around it so maybe it would work
Heres Hoping a good hatch for you!!

I think you are right....Mine did that too, rolled the eggs around I made sure the humidity was 77 or so and then opened mine quickly and turned the pipping guys egg back over then watched to see the humidity make sure it didnt go down and actuiall y had a;little spray bottle to mist if it did at all. .Pip guy was fine and .he hatched .I took mine out once they dried pretty much some hours but the bath room they go in is really hot 90-95degree nowindows etc.. with the heat lamp right on the new ones so i think they are ok then as long as they are dry around the edges pretty good.maybe a tiny little damp on the back but not wet...

Stuff on the outside...Does it have a crack in it at all?
Even with a crack i havent seen anything come out of my chicken eggs while hatching AT ALL...Just the chick HAHA
I really dont know a thing about quail they could be different than chickens but I had some oozed teeny tiny dots of white or yellow on couple of my eggs one hatch which someone told me probably means they are rotten.See if it gets more of the stuff on it. If nobody has pipped yet and has a hole.. then i would make sure the humidity was fairly high toward top of what it should be and then quick lift the lid and grab that egg out Check the humidity again make sure you dont need to add water after opening ...
Egg..Candle it... if all dark maybe think about going back in.... or not.
Dont want to take the chance of all others getting contaminated by an exploding egg.Save one to ruin them all.
