Go Emubator go!Oh yeah, the Brinsea doesn't have eggs in it as of this morning. Moved them right to my Emubator because the temps kept trying to creep up on me. I kept turning it down and it just kept going up.

I did just that the other day and I was pretty impressed with it. It has a nice heft to it, not lightweight as I suspected. Reviews that I have seen on facebook from random people have all been positive. The only complaints that I have heard were the recommended humidity is too high but I don't put much stock in those guidelines since it's so different in areas of the country.Someone linked this one on FB the other day. I'm curious enough about it to go to the store and remove one from the box for inspection. I want to see if it feels cheapo or what. everything looks neat, and the price is nice.

I worry some about adding lots of water, or a damp cloth because of bacteria. I might just get a humidifier for the room they're in entirely, as I don't have to mess with the incubator to get more water in, haha! Once I got the humidity stable, I'll take the tape off. Does it really matter how much weight the eggs lose daily, or does it only matter until a week or so due to hatching? I understand it helps so the chick isn't bloated or dehydrated, but it's not the same case with chicken eggs right?

Like Pyxis, I am also looking for a hatcher. I bought a cabinet and after going through my first really large hatch I can say I am not cut out to hatch in those things LOL My only "wish" for this new model from TSC is a humidity pump that would work. Unfortunately I have the Humidty Kit that only fits certain models and this one isn't it. I guess I could suck it up for the 4 days and manually add water but once you get used to a fully automatic unit it's.......sooooooo hard. LOL I will probably end up with one of these too
Edited to add: It sure seems to be giving brinsea a run for their money and you just can't beat the price point!
Oh you are the perfect one then to test and see if the Brinsea humidity pump would work with this. I looked at the water inlet port on the outside and it looks like the thinner brinsea tube and sensor would fit. Thanks for that info. I'm going to buy one today. I have more eggs coming next week. I have 2 Octagons, one has the pump, and I agree, it's hard to have to worry about humidity when you get used to not worrying! Lol
I haven't heard all great things about the new Ovations and I certainly don't like the price, so I'm going to give this one a shot.
I'll pm you, I hate to sideline Pyxis' emu thread any further. Sorry Pyxis!![]()
