Mine just started quacking within the past 2 weeks and now they are wild quackers!! If they even hear me talking in the house they go off quacking at the bottom of my deck steps! I don;t know if it means they are boys or girls, but the one quacks REALLY loud! I was so proud of them!!!

well, if it was quacking and not making a raspy noise, you most likely have a duck as opposed to a drake. how fun is that!

you can put my number on speed dial if you need to have a back up for 'exciting poultry sharing emergencies'!

'Um, MJ...I saw an egg in the nest! Yes, I swear IN THE NEST!'
'OH MY GOSH! My babies are all grown up and making duck noises!'
'AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! DUCKLINGS HATCHED IN THE DUCK HOUSE!!!!!!!'

etc.

have fun with your quacking duck!

If it is an actual 'whack whack' sound, you definitely have a female. Males never make that sound, they peep as babies (kind of raspy sounding, like they have a sore throat), and they have a raspy-whispery thing they do as adults.

Ducks are like kids. You want so bad for them to quack (talk), they do and its so cute and great, and then you quickly find out you want them to BE QUIET!! ahahahaha
