quail with crooked neck

Oh shes an adult now, still fine. Only bird I have that has a name, "George".

In the wild she would not make it, but my birds get fine ground food, so all she has to do is stick her head in and swallow.

She'll probably die from obesity.

If this little guy/gal makes it I'll probably keep it....even though these are our meat birds. Just won't hatch any eggs from it. It'll be unique!

build him a pen with an outside corner in it, then he can stand there looking around it.

Well I don't think it's getting any better. ..but still eating and drinking good. I've grown pretty attached : /

Yeah, that seems to happen when we have to give one special attention...

You could name him "Squash" Around here we grow a lot of Crookneck Squash...

Looks like my boy Egore (Don't ask my husband named him!). He got picked on the other day by the hens and got scalped so his head is now purple but healing :) I grew attached to him too lol

I had one with a crook neck that hatched last Thursday. He made it until Saturday when he couldn't get up. When i would pick him up and set him on his feet he would immediately fall over feet in the air. Tried this all day Saturday and Sunday morning he was alive just not really moving much. I put him out of his misery. Hope yours makes it, I kinda wanted to see mine get big and walk around always looking to the right.

Pretty bad...I'm already planning on having an extra quail coop just for this one and a few friends...lol, my husband thinks I'm absolutely nuts! I need a good name for it. Guess I should wait until I figure out if it's a boy or girl first though. Does anyone have any pics of their adult birds with crooked necks?

LOL@us I just put a healing rooster in the small cage with George the hen, she took her ugly self to task setting up house!
shes been grooming and cuddling with him all day. Meanwhile hes trying to decide if he'd rather live with the ugliest hen in the house or go back to getting beat up every day for talking to someone elses girlfriends....

I've also noticed some birds will develop some personality that causes us to notice them.

I have a young A&M roo that seems to be frustrated with the girls, so whenever he see me he wants to fight. he'll peck my hands but never hurts me, or I can put my finger to the wire and he'll come peck it as long as I'll hold it there...this morning he was pecking my finger and his pen is on the top rack so I stuck my face right up close and said "WHAT ARE you doing" he looked at me funny cocked his head to the side and took a bite out of the end of my cigar. Good thing it had gone out.
