Question for the rubenesque of our female byc

Man! I was a tiny, tiny, child the first time they were popular, and I thanked GOD every single day that I was a small child in the 70's and couldn't be blamed for my choice in clothing during that era. Now, my generation can be blamed for parachute pants and big hair, but I was into Punk rock, so it was ripped jeans and Doc Martens with obscure rock t-shirts for me during that era. I do, however, get to blackmail my sister with some really great pictures of her Cyndi Lauper hair, and that lovely single glove!

I think those are great links, thanks for sharing! Some of the tops are similar to the ones I bought at Torrid. I say if you've got it, show it!!

LOL! :aww You have my sympathy for the whole leg warmer thing...shudder! I was a 'Pre-Goth as my 12 year old son calls Punks and kids like I was. I did have a really spectacular mohawk for my tiny East Texas town, and I was pretty scary looking for a 4'11, 90lb kid! I wore dog collars on my boots, had a leather motorcycle jacket with more chains than the local hardware store, and probably the first sharpie "Anarchy" tattoo on any 12 year old in the entire East Texas area!

My son was really kinda disturbed by how much gear I still had stored away, when I drug it out for his Halloween costume this last year. I saw Ozzy Osbourne in concert in 1986, and I still count that as one of the highlights of my youth, and considering that I went and saw Rob Zombie this past February, I dont think I have grown up too much, but I dont wear the concert t-shirt when I am out and about in my community,(makes it kinda hard to get a job teaching little kids), but my son enjoys bragging to his friends that his mom is just slightly nuts, and that I have a really cool concert t-shirt collection.

* I don't have a problem with clothes, I pretty much live in cotton capris and tees-- Not much of a fashionista. BUT BRAS!! My gosh, bras are the WORST. TOO expensive, TOO uncomfortable, or badly fitting and the trend toward plastic fabrics had a few positives, but a LOT of negatives for busty gals in a hot climate. I like t-back sports bras-- but can we get real and make one with honest-to-gosh CUPS, please???

I just heard a joke about an old lady that had decided to join her DH in the great beyond that would go too well after that idea, but never mind-- I'll be a good girl.

Heres what I learned from the classiest dressed lady at church, and let me tell you she was over 70. I got to know her well and finally she told me her secret, the reason her clothes fit so well and she was blessed on top, she would buy clothes to fit her bust and have them tailored where they were too big. Now she knew a gal that sewed but they do tailoring at some dry cleaners too.
So far I just buy to fit the bust and bag everywhere else, lol, but I was laid off for awhile so I am still playing catch-up !

* I was able to do that with one special dress-- had it done custom for a big awards convention, but, it was SO hard!! My poor seamstress who was a sweetheart from my church, and one dang dress 'bout killed the both of us with the stress. I was a 16 with a new mom's bust, 2-1/2 times the size!! Patterns just aren't designed to do that.

Interesting thread.

Have any of you noticed that Playtex just doesn't make bras like they used to? I never buy them now cos I can pop an underwire the first time I wear them. And those cheap little strap adjusters, well, my 'girls' can blow them out of the water quicker than it takes to deal with the 'udderwire'. I now prefer Lilyette and I can buy them periodically at Mervyns or Kohls half price sales. I bought one in the weekend for $19, considerably less than the original $34 tag. They have cheap knickers, too (panties).

Between Ross, TJ Max, Marshals and the good will stores I can stay decently dressed. I've become very good at hand hemming too long jeans, too. Can't bear to pay a cleaner to hem them for $12 a pair!

Well, I go with my mom to the thrift and closeout stores and such but you never find "well endowed" clothes on the cheap racks. I will tell you too, that when I have a yard sale all my "big mama" (as my 3 year old lovingly calls me! HA) clothes and bras sell out before sun up. I H-A-T-E clothes shopping because everything sux and I just buy something then turn around and end up selling with the tags still attached 3 months later. You either look like a whale with a trash bag over you, or some hooker in the wrong decade!!
