Question on GMO feed

If you teach High School then you should at least know that humans are a carbon based species. We emit carbon and we consume carbon. Without enough carbon we would die. So "making a smaller carbon footprint" would require mass genocide or suicide of all living things. You might want to let those kids in the classroom know that instead of parroting popularized nonsense.

Wow, you are kidding right? Harsh, unnecessary, and, in that tone, you do realize that "smaller" is a relative qualifier?

A response with a snivel and disdain for an absolute qualifier in regard to truth is merely another example of the never ending BS people choose to occupy their minds because it sounds good.

One wonders why ad hominem attacks are necessary here.

I hate it when moderates cannot try to join a conversation. We just get to watch idiots on both ends of a spectrum lob logic bombs at each other.

I quit. No more BYC for me.

Not exactly ad hominem but yes. GMOs are a serious topic,

It's a touchy subject. Not exactly ad hominem but yes, not appropriate or relevant. Just an attack as I read it. However also note in forums tone is very extremely difficult to convey. Maybe you will hang around? I personally appreciate your line of thinking and think it is beneficial here with all the internet quoting going on.

Think about it what is absolute about "smaller?" Smaller than... what? A cave man? An h3 driving, air at 68 F in Florida man? I would hope we would strive to have as small of a carbon footprint as possible within our means. All orders of life on earth have some footprint.

One more thing, Mr. Apple. You are parroting popularized nonsense when you assume a high school teacher should "at least" know something.

I hold a doctorate from UCLA. I'm a published author in refereed journals. I was named a California Teacher of the Year, a Milken Foundation National Educator, and the Outstanding Western United States High School Chemistry Teacher by the American Chemical Society. I have been in the Oval Office and have been congratulated by a President of the United States. I have had Nobel laureates visit my classroom. I remain in a high school classroom because I feel called to be there, not because I "at least know that humans are a carbon-based species."

However, your need to attack those who disagree with your views sickens me to the point where I will never again visit BYC. I'll take my knowledge, my curiosity, and my desire to reach out to others and go elsewhere.

Thank you, Mr. Apple, for reminding me that some people are so foolish that they cannot listen to any view but their own.

Good luck with your single worldview.

Now why would provisions like this be sought if their products are so healthy and safe?

Because they aren't, and insulting my intelligence won't exalt you to intelligentsia status.
Did you read the actual bill, or just the media hype.
It allows FARMERS,(not Monsanto) to continue planting and harvesting, etc, their crops in the event of a lawsuit, until all APPEALS are final

I didn't insult your intelligence.
I just pointed out that what you said was incorrect, and now you've repeated it once more, since there is nothing in the bill (it's only a couple of short paragraphs) about "health risks"

I'd suggest you read the actual text, and stop believing the hysteria

Quote: LOL
Are you having problems with insects in YOUR garden not dying from BT?
If not, why does it matter TO YOU?

Maybe, just MAYBE, they are introducing 2-4-D resistant corn because 2-4-D kills BROADLEAF WEEDS better than Roundup

Are you having problems with YOUR Roundup not killing weeds?
If not, why does it matter TO YOU?

2-4-D isn't a "harsher herbicide".
It just kills different kinds of weeds better

And what does ANY of the above have to do with GMO's being "harmful"?

Give it up. Monsanto is a self titled "Sustainable Agriculture Company" which employs those "farmers" you mentioned. Read between the lines next time if you have actually read the bill yourself.

No attack unless you consider critical thinking a crime. With all those road scholar accomplishments you mentioned, you should know better. Happy trails.
