I have what I need for the babies (due as soon as tomorrow), but I think it might be worth the money to buy a few things. The starter cage is wire, so the bird feeders should fit fine.
Are the feeders practical, or is it just not worth it even if I get several? Cups are an option too.
Is this the correct bulb and holder for indoor brooding?
Is there anything (like how you like it) you can tell me?

A couple of deep lids are fine dishes for the first week—w/ marbles/pebbles in the waterer—if you can spare the space in the brooder. Then "normal" chicken chick feeders while they're growing (mine grew into messy adults who needed "custom" Tupperware feeders)

A ceramic heat emitter is better than a traditional heat lamp in terms of encouraging normal sleep. Not sure if you mount it differently.

I used an "electric hen" heating plate for brooding a small hatch and loved it—but those types of brooders aren't as effective for more than 20 or so quail at a time. Brood in a clear container if you can—helps the chicks feel more comfortable being around you and easier to watch!

I started with a 55 watt incandescent (normal) light bulb and worked fine in a 30 gallon tote with the lid cracked open a couple of inches. I switched to the 100 watt ceramic and almost baked the babies. Eventually, I took the lid completely off and covered it with mesh netting to discourage the dog. Need good air flow for the 100 watt. It works. They didn't even use it when I put them outside in a wire cage. Cuddle boxes work.

Ok.
I'm a little late but yes this should work just fine.
This is the newest lamp I got.
I like it.
