My hens are driving me crazy with their broody behavior. I had one broody give up today, after being broody for almost four weeks (I ordered chicks, but they won't arrive until the 8th). Im dissapointed to see that she threw in the towel.

I have another hen who just starting brooding today. Last week she and her sister hid a nest of 14 eggs from me. I call them the evil twins.


I took their eggs and gave them fake ones, but only one of the hens is now showing broody signs. Fingers crossed somebody is broody when the chicks arrive at the post office! Lol.

I hope you still have one broody for those babies. I candled my hens 4 eggs and only one is cooking and can't find any chicks yet close by to hatch around the 19th I hate she may have only one chick I think my roo maybe past his prime at going on 6yrs. I want bantams too which makes it harder.
 
That happened here last year. I gave each hen a few eggs and somehow it worked out that only one hatched for each. Under one hen one was empty and another just never hatched...its like it made it to the day and then quit. The other one had an empty egg and one egg that didn't hatch right. I think her butt broke it. But each happily toted around their baby and would actually hang out and sit on eachothers on chillier days.

*Sigh* babies. Must get more babies hahaha

I think I'm going to order two...I've been talking it over with my SO all day and he said as long as the coop will hold them I can pick up a few

As you can see it takes a lot of twisting of my arm to change course haha Now I have to think of names! And set up a brooder!

What breed are you wanting? My eggs will be Cochin bantams I love that breed and I think since I already have a few they will fit in well with my LF hens.
