Heronpaw bounded through the undergrowth, occasionally being swatted by a fern or the like. She took in her surroundings silently as the foliage brushed her blue-gray pelt. Then she caught the scent of her prey. Her paws and legs tiring by the second, not used to so much running, she spotted the furry tail of the rabbit. By now it had heard her and dashed away, but to her surprise, she kept up decently. It disappeared from her view every so often, but it was always found again. Finally she had come within striking distance and pounced upon the small creature, only to find herself looking in between her paws to see nothing but air. Legs aching, but refusing to give up the chase and let her pride be diminished by the teasing that would undoubtedly commence should she return with nothing, she pressed on. The rabbit had gained quite a distance, but, she eventually overtook it and leaped again. The kill was messy, she had slipped and almost let it get away, but stretched out a desperate forepaw and hooked her claws into its tail, pulling it backwards. She glanced down at the creature before delivering the killing bite. She grabbed the animal by it's scruff and started to pad back to the others, mostly proud of her kill, but knowing it could have easily gotten away had she not clawed its tail. Heronpaw thought disdainfully, That's not how a catch should be done. as she made her way back to the others, having to walk a little ways farther, knowing they couldn't stop for petty challenges. She hauled the rabbit over to Crowpaw and dropped it, "I'll spare you the details, I'm not meant for catching rabbits and you could've undoubtedly caught this faster than I did."
