There's a raccoon that's been wandering around the neighborhood killing chickens, and I'm trying to help my neighbors trap it.
They have trap that looks sort of like this:

What bait should I use? Any tips? Thanks!

Marshmallows. Chicken food. Cat or dog food, or meats of any sorts will also trap cats, so try other items first.
Keeping the birds in a safe coop and run, and having no feed outside for anyone, will help too. Where there's one raccoon, there's likely a family group.
Then shoot each one, don't relocate.
I needed the larger sized trap for really large raccoons too.
Good luck!

I think any and all of the food stuffs suggested will work fine.... for cage style traps I like canned cat food simply because the can itself makes the critter stay in the trap and move around until it sets off the trap...

Some times I use table scraps, grape jelly... or whatever... I just put it in an old cat food can...

I have one old cage trap that has been beat up by a couple of very large coons in the past though... it has a finicky trigger pan, so it can get robbed a bit easier than most...so the tin can helps prevent this.
