Since I have never had pekin, so not butchered one, I really can't compare. THis was a young duck, hatched late summer, and of only moderate size compared to those early in the summer and the 1 yr olds. ( Talking all males here which are about twice the size of the females). More to the point-- I was pleasantly surprized as this one had the same amount of meat than my hatchery style chickens. Therefore I am expecting a LOT more meat on my 1 yr olds. THe legs are a bit skimpy.Arielle do you think the Muscovy's have more breast meat than Pekins? My friend told me ducks don't have that much in general.
We ate the breast meat then stewed the rest of the roasted duck.
Muscovies are supposed to be a meat breed.
