Raising Baby Chick-Along

Tempting. I might do one more hatch of lav orps. They sell well and i still have people asking for them. AND, i didn't even get to keep any this year. Was hoping my broodies would take care of adding to my own flock. And the incubators' silence is getting annoying.

I had 2 lav EE's I think - they turned out to BOTH be roosters....GRRRRR Now, I"m trying to rehome those. I have two little lav orp babies that still hasn't given me any indication if they are boys or girls....

@WVduckchick :lau @calichicken You, dear, are an enabler!

My favorite color is purple. Lavendar chickens? You have my attention.

Well they aren't Barney purple, but a beautiful light blueish lavender color. :)

This seems to be the year of the rooster. :(
Lav orps seem to take forever. Having more chicks at a time makes it easier. But when the boys' combs pop up, they are pretty obvious! It seems to happen overnight. :)

Gorgeous! Stunning! Superlative! I need lavendar chickens in my life. HE will understand. He knows how vulnerable I am to purple things. And maroon. I even bought purple bases for the brooder feeder and waterer.

Whenever you want to incubate some, i should have eggs! :D

That's what bothered me most out the EE's....they have almost NO comb at all, but their tails started swooping.... and they started crowing..... 20170704_155650.jpg

If I hatch roosters I'll be devastated. Can't keep one. :hit

I've hatched eggs in styrofoam coolers before, long ago, mostly just to do it. Had good luck and hatched all 6 of the eggs I put in. But then I was in the country with lots of chickens and such. Now being in town it's a bit more problematic.

Well.....if people want them...AND you need some...hmmmm. Just no Roos so talk to those eggies and make that clear ;)
