@Cryss I went back to see how it went with the now one year olds,My chicks are under mama, just hatched. At what age do you let them join the flock? They are in a coop and run that is built inside the main run so everyone sees everyone.
We took the other 11 chicks to our sons house yesterday & today I took the one week old chicks out to experience the other hens. The older hen pretty much ignored them after I first put them out. One did keep coming to see. The chicks made themselves right at home, scratching and dust bathing. I did pick up each older hen and held them in the brooder and let the chicks come close to them - All they wanted was out! they were not interested in the chicks. So, I dont think I will have a mamma hen like I did with the Buff Orpington.

They are so smart, I have one that scoped out the brooder/XL dog crate on day 4 of its life, it was looking for a way to get out, HahahahahaI giggled a little when I read the title because just this morning my sister swore off ever getting leghorns again - in the past 15 hours, we had 3 escape artists. All different leghorn chicks(6weeks)!It was pretty funny
