Well I tried the “cold plunge “ again on mean broody hen- is is said it will do a temperature change and drop the hot broody hormones










She is shivering, so I hope it worked

Welsummers are a sexlink- I asked for my roosters to be marked so I knew which ones they were. They came with red on their heads.
So now that the feathers are popping out— I see I have a possible, I am 99% sure, a third rooster.
The hens have white dots and feathers on their shoulders like a shawl. Boys have short shoulder feathers and look to me like tiger stripes.

Here if you zoom in you can see - top left, rooster, under him is a hen, under her is a rooster and to the right is a rooster,
These on my shoulder are marked as rooster




3 roosters, I marked them. Yes #3 won’t be official until it crows

I remembered I have a LG dog crate

I took the tub away and left the nesting- they each have food and water and shade and at some point???? they will stop pacing and sit

SO MUCH BETTER-- I can sit at my computer and see the chicks and they see me through the window. they are in the shade just below the 2X4 this side of the feeders -I can see the broody hens,

Yep, they’ll move to the roost soon enough.

They were trying to roost next to the big girls yesterday evening, but I heard squabbling as I walked away so I don't know if they got chased off or not.

yesterday 3ish ,
The chicks have been running loose all day since I put the broody hens in jail.
I fixed the little chick ladder I had made in 22 and put it in the coop.


I came in and started watching Mrs Marpel Agatha Christie mystery and it was so quite out i went to check the chicks and boom--
this is what I found at 4:45

at 8pm I went out and the chicks were ready for the nest so I took away the roost ladder
[ for my own sanity- there would be chaos!!!]

and the broodies had a CAMP OUT

5am bedding looked great! this is what I like to use a towel, so I can do poop checks.
Went out at6:54 to move the night time panels,,,




and saw this!


wiped it up with a paper towel and
