I need to be leaving the house soon and went out to peek through the window to so how things were going— look who is sitting on top of Nanny

well, 4weeks and two days old,
They have spent the last two days running free in the run and coop. Their feed is blocked from the big hens (pigs) but they are doing fine. Nanny hen is still hovering. Tuesday night Nanny slept in a nesting box and the chicks stayed in their nest under the nesting boxes. The chicks slept in one of the nesting boxes last night. One chick slept with Nanny in a box.
Its 48 out so they are hanging out in the coop.
I am going to go read my papers and finish my coffee

I gave my chickens a snack of chicken gristle from a few drumsticks. I cut them up into small pieces and threw in just a couple at a time so there'd be more chance of all getting a fair share.

The big ones usually seem to get to most of the treats first, so I tried to aim my throws to the teenagers so they'd get a little more this time, and I think it worked. But it's kind of hard to tell since they all move so fast when I throw the treats in.

It is a food fight for sure,
I use two plastic panels or the leaf rake, and wave off the older hens when I want them to stay back.
