Raising one orphaned Indian Runner

I would love a video Duckens - not only b/c we could help determine the sex with voice, but because I love video's of ducklings!!!!

He / she really is a cutie. A video would be awesome. All duckens needs is a couple friends they would have to be separated for a while till duckens was more mature but I understand about wanting to know sex first so if you can get a video of duckens maybe we can help. Letting them live side by side for a short time helps them get use to one another

I will say I have enjoyed bonding with Duckens. I always assumed ducks and chickens were similar but they aren't at all. I've learned a lot and I've tried to do my best to do right by the little guy. I mean, I read about nutrition and he's getting his brewer's yeast and some rolled oats to make sure he isn't getting too much protein. He gets a lot of time outside both walking around with me and swimming. He has a large enclosure in the house and always has water deep enough for him to get his whole head in and under the water.

I have no access to a duck the same size/age as him. I have access to adults that may need to be rehomed. My other option is a woman who has a small flock of her own ducks, some of which were raised as orphans in the house on their own but she was able to transition them into their new flock slowly. I would like to keep him because we're attached to him as well but I don't want an entire 'flock' maybe just two or three tops. It's hard to know what the right thing to do is.

As always, I appreciate everyone's advice!

Don't sweat it too much. My singleton was super bonded to me and spoiled like crazy and I worried that he wouldn't accept being a duck. But once he was a little older he gradually started wanting to spend more time with the ducks outside until eventually he is part of the flock and now I'm just the food person
Just a suggestion, if you could get 2 or 3 female ducks. . and go ahead and get them now, or asap, then you wouldn't have to worry either way if yours was a boy or girl. Then you would at least have other ducks for him or her to look at and start getting used to. Eventually he or she will want to hang out with them and do duckie things

This may be silly but I also let my single duckling watch you tube videos of other ducklings when he was little

I think Sir Duckens is spoiled rotten and loving it! soooooooooooo cute! and definitely bonded with you. I am also guessing - and mind you just a guess - that Sir Charles Duckens is actually Madam Charlene Duckens! There's a little bit of a lower tone in between some of those peeps - just a little. I have a 50/50 chance of being right
