I'm building an ark style tractor for our adult flock of delawares, marans and australorps. The roost and nest boxes are about almost 3 feet off the ground. Do I need to make a ramp up for them? I have seen them hop into the guinea coop, about 2' 6'' up. I'd rather not put one in as I move the tractor frequently and lifting the ramp is one extra step.

Quote:The ramp doubles as the door in most of those. Whether or not it is needed depends upon whether or not you think you need a door, and the width of the hole the birds will have to jump up to.

They use their wings when they jump up, so need width.
