Go Peppermint!
Peppermint just hatched!! Congrats to @TesoroSena for picking one of the 2 eggs to develop from the first batch of shipped eggs!

Peppermint looks solid black - does that mean no cuckoo pattern? Also probably means female? I dont know a ton about cuckoos. But I think that they have a white spot on the head at hatch if they are cuckoo? This chick has a nice vaulted head and is super adorable! So happy to have a shipped egg hatch!!!

Ohhhh!!!! So cute!! Awesome!

Getting a little antsy about silkie egg #25 Candy Cane as that egg was pipped about 20 hours ago or longer and hasn’t made progress. Hopefully now that Peppermint is out, she will encourage Candy Cane!

I don't know much about cuckoos but if it was a solid male over a cuckoo female then a solid chick should be a pullet.

Can you see the membrane? Does it look dried, can you see its beak?

Oh that’s right! Solid male over cuckoo female creates sex links! Hmmm. Maybe as this baby dries more I will be able to tell for sure if they are solid and don’t have a dot.

And Candy Cane is zipping now!!! Peppermint did help!

Yay! Candy Cane hatched! A black chick! I know who the mom is, a silkie hen who is black with gold neck and head. And pretty sure the dad is the frizzled NN silkie.

Now for this batch we just have three olive eggs (2 have pipped) and the lavender egg to go! Come on eggies!
