chickenwhisperer123, you are 100% innocent, and I can imagine the whole scene. I want to commend you for not insisting that the girl get in trouble. There's a good chance that she has a crush on you, and that's her way of showing it.
Don't be too hard on the teacher either. If it had been a woman teacher she'd've been all over the girl. Most men teachers cannot imagine a girl's doing anything wrong and will almost always take their word/side over a boy's. I taught school for 40+ years, and I cannot remember all the times that I realized later it was the girl's fault after my having punished the boy.
Let it slide and go on, you did good.

BTW, try to remember that a teacher doesn't have time to be policeman, judge, jury, and executioner all in five minutes and can't expect to be right more than 50% of the time. They just do the best they can with the situation at hand, and like parents, they make a LOT of mistakes.

I agree there is no need for the law to step in here. Kate, you happen to be one of the teachers in this world that cares about her students and I wish I could hug you every time I read your teaching posts!!!!

This kids teacher sounds like the one that told my son he wasn't worth the air it took for him to breathe.

Everyone remember - in EVERY profession there are good and bad.

Thank you, but please remember for every child that makes a claim like this there is one lying about a claim like this too. I'm not saying the OP is, but I find it very interesting that everytime a thread gets shut down about homeschooling or teachers, or the President and teachers, one will pop up with an absolute horrid accusation against teachers. It is guaranteed that one will appear right away and then everyone tries to out do each other on just how bad the teachers are. I'm thinking of starting my own rant about terrible students and parents because for every teacher there are at least 25 in a self-contained classroom plus their parents, so there must be a lot more "terrible students and parents" than teachers.

Then I guess I should start one about that incredible young man that was my son's 6th grade teacher that turned him into a man. That teacher guided, cared, taught, rewarded when earned, and simply cared about his students like no other I have seen.

You couldn't pay me enough to be a teacher. I have been on campus and I know what you say is truth!!!! SOOO many kids these days are abusive to their authorities, and this includes teachers. Parents are a whole 'nother Oprah.

True, and the ones who lie make situations like this harder for the ones who are telling the truth.

I had a wonderful English teacher in 7th and 8th grade. He was my favorite teacher ever. A little over a year ago, he got into a lot of trouble for writing inappropiate letters to one of his female students. She told her parents, who told the authorities.

So sure was I that this had to be a student angry at him for something, I was angry and ranting and raving at my local news channel. I just knew that this particular teacher would never engage in any inappropriate behavior with any of his students.

Turns out, it was all true. He admitted to writing the letters and offered a public apology to the student. I was devestated to learn that someone I held in such high regards was admitting guilt.

His behavior was inappropriate, but that doesn't change the fact that he was an excellent teacher. Still, his inappropriate behavior got his license revoked.

WriterOfWords and 2009chickenmom, I want teachers like you.

He is really the only teacher I have a problem with...

Since when did he disrespect his teacher? - besides saying fricken (when it wasn't even about the teacher). I know tons of people who'll stub their toe or get hurt and swear. From what he said it hurt, so he made a mistake. But accuse him of disrespecting the teacher and telling him to grow up? Please.

Kate, sometimes there are just bad people out that. No one is saying you are just because you share the same profession. Anyone that reads your posts would realize that your not a bad person. However, you SHOULD make that rant, if it makes you feel better. I've come across far too many horrible students than teacher. Although I guess age has something to do with it.

CW123, just know that you aren't alone, and that life goes on.

I always try to take a OP's words with validity unless there is some history otherwise. It is impossible to get the other side of the story, and the OP is only talking of one teacher. So far everyone here has posted with respect to teachers except for the one described.

Like I pointed out there is good and bad in every profession, pointing out one bad in any profession is not an accusation to all. Most teachers I have encountered are good honest people just like anyone else. But we do see the news reports of the bad ones. I encountered such a bad one in school, a football coach. It seems when I was little and he played college ball he worked for my father during the summer. When he made the mistake of grabbing my fathers big nose and making fun of it my father broke his. Years later after a professional football career he became the coach in the school I attended. And he made my life miserable, the day finally came when I pushed on his backside, and he told me he would tell my father who would beat me. And I told him go ahead and he might get another broken nose. I never had a problem again, and I did tell my father, who was now in his 50's who went down to school and backed the coach twice his size up against the wall.

Now days having a parent handle this in this manner is unacceptable, but back then a football coach was a god and complaining meant nothing. BTW the coach was finally fired and arrested years later for assaulting students. Teachers should be respected, but they also must respect students or they do not deserve respect.

The girl should have never thrown water on him and secondly, should have been repremanded for kneeing him in the hind end! Come on!! Seriously! Back in my school days, people KNEW that you don't do that. That matters were always dealt with.

I definitely think your parents need to stand up for you. Have you told them about it??
