I don't really throw them in the air. I put them in my hand and kind off toss them and they flip down and catch themselves in the air before they hit the ground and they always land perfectly without any harm. The breeder I got them from showed me this and he has never had an injury either.

I think I was reading on one site where they would snap their fingers besides the bird and the bird would jump up to do one, two or three flips and land in the same spot. Not sure if it was these or not?

I think that is what most breeders train them to do but I the breeder I got them from never did teach his birds to do that so he just showed me how to do it from the air

PARLOR ROLLER/TUMBLER tips:

make sure to only have them on wire, galvanized, plastic in cages (or they get filthy and scraped up, with perches no higher than foot and half at most, as otherwise theyll climb wire up but try to fly and can injure or kill selves. ideal cage height for mature and breeder birds is 18 inches supposedly. i have about a three foot high cage for my parlor tumblers and seems like bad idea so far, so im getting some other lower ones like one rabbit cage i got (just got my parlor tumblers real recent, but researched and looked for for years). only have them out on soft grass, or maybe soft carpet, as otherwise theyll injure themselves. do not to roll breeding hens as they can break eggs inside and die! seen this happen to flying rollers others had, and almost happened to one of mine i didnt know would lay again so soon.
