Doug , he is only 25 % green. light color more like a blue charcoal, lot of barring on the new feathers. I will be keeping him anyway. He is showing alot of the male signs also flight feathers (ones that are not white) and etc.

He is almost 2 months old, pretty sure its a male....we will see. I can sex most blue at that age

Don't go by the flight feathers because in spalding the flights feathers could be the same in males or female. I know it only 25% green but it don't matter. The spalding and greens are the hardest to sex. Being your first year raising any kind of spalding you will find out what I am saying. I have raised some nice peach spalding over the years and there has been some I would have bet the bank they were males but turn out to be hens.

Yes know what you mean about the spalding peach...had some of the spalding peach chicks. yes some of the hens had barring.

Still hope the spalding charcoal pied ,is a male. Pretty Sure he is...but will see he or her is a keeper anyway. Would never sell it as a male, or even as a female.

The 50% charcoal spalding looks like a hen, still a keeper.

I also raised the pair spalding 75% split to Opal. no i couldn't sex them until real late.

I also hatch some spalding pieds last year.

Well, crud. I think my peachick may be a boy. The feathers right behind the neck are coming in almost laced, and it's a dark rusty color. Some of the flights and some of the tail feathers are coming in dark, too. I'll get some pics up.

I got my first peas yesterday and while i was there i saw a lite chocolate looking male and a white female with chocolate specks or patches, very pretty birds.

Purple BS males worth alot more than a hen. All his daughters will be purple no matter the hens. If with blue BS hens all sons will be blue bs, and daughters purple bs.

The flight feathers are for sure male.........I may have a few BS hens out of my BS split peach pen none will be split peach but mother could be bs pied.

you can still keep him with the other peacock....you can't get rid of your baby. Plus you need to watch him color out the next 2 yrs.

Yes have a few peachicks lol ....some are hens need to wait till temp are lower to ship...or can ship a older hen.
