Rare Rare Peachick

The peachick looks more like a pied ,not silver pied...What was his mother?

2 chicks on the left are Silver pied , other 2 are BS

Okay, I have to know about the buckle the chicks are wearing- is this 'pinning?' How exactly does it work, and is the purpose similar to that of leg banding?

Here is the latest pic of my little chick- she hatched on June 24th, I think, and is getting the beginnings of a little crown. Any gender ideas?

I'm just afraid of falling in love with it and then finding it's a peacock rather than hen and being unable to keep it...sooner I'm safe or heartbroken, better...

Those are wing bands, each # so i will always know what the parents are..I keep a book for each year, only way to keep track with all the chicks I hatch.
Not pinning , that is were a section of a wing is remove to keep the bird from flying. Done mostly on waterfowl, like swans and etc.

She is still a little young to tell sex for sure, but looking more like a female.

She is a purple blackshoulder for sure.

I'm glad she's looking female...I love her to death already! She peeps at me when she sees me and she just loves to sit on my shoulder. I am completely owned by her already.

She did something really weird today. I put her outside in the outdoor grow out pen, and she burrowed into the shavings under the ramp from the coop part of it. I was looking for her for a long time, knowing she couldn't get out, wondering where she was. She was under the ramp where it meets the ground, down on the soil, completely hunkered down. I keep expecting her to act just like a chicken, but clearly she's not a chicken...I'll learn as we go.

Here are some shots of her today- she's always getting in the way when I'm trying to get shots of other chicks, but won't sit still for a second when I want her in the shot.

She was hatched June 24th or 25th, and so she's just over a month old...any clues on gender or am I still just being impatient?

It's terrible shots from my Blackberry- all I have right now. Mainly it's just to show color, as I can't tell what gender this first peachick is! No experience with them at all!
