I had rats that were coming into the house via the dryer vent that was going through the floor. I remove the dryer and set over the hole with a 22 rifle and dropped bait through the hole. I got several that way. 22 shorts don't make much noise. This stuff makes great stories for your wife to tell on you years later as proof of your insanity.
