Ready for the Government Shutdown?!?

My husband works for the national guard and will have to report to work on Monday to be officially laid off

Thank goodness he has always been a penny pincher and we have always lived below our means...

This is about cutting the budget.......for us its easy ,we have to live with what we take in......even a 100 billion cut in the budget,,they will still be spending trillon they don't have....

We're Navy overseas and our commisary will be closing as well, which means we will have nowhere to shop... Just to give you an idea of how expesive it really is to shop civilian here, a quart of icecream is $2.49 in a base, and $6.97 off base. I just cannot believe that they would sacrafice our pay like that, unbelieveable.

The military WILL get paid, just not on time. Still stinks, as we are military, one-income and have military renters who will also not be getting paid. I'm sure you can see where that is headed!

But I don't mind the shutdown. I'm hoping it is for the best and more money can be cut from the budget and overall deficit. We have always lived below our means and even with the potential of 2 house payments, we could do it. Maybe the gov't will be willing to hear our tips for fiscal responsibility.

Shutdown? What shutdown? Nothing of significance, good or bad, is going to be shut down, unfortunately.

They just say it to get us worked up. To be entirely, 100% honest, I don't give a rat's hindquarters whether the feds stop most of their so-called "services" or not. I, personally, am hoping for a royal case of gridlock.

Now, I'd be a lot more interested if this meant that they STOPPED SPENDING for for a couple of days - it'd be kinda funny to watch their heads explode from the shock.

Yeah, my husband and I both get military retirement. The only thing is that we are both very lucky to currently have good civilian jobs to keep some money flowing. It is beyond wrong to hurt those who are fully retired and NEED that pay to live on. Very disappointed with things these days.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think I read in an Armytimes article today that retirement spending comes out of a trust, and is therefore unaffected and already allotted for.

What I imagined when I saw this nonsense on the news today.... Wait for them all to be in there talking about shut-down tomorrow... close the doors and lock them. Twice a day deliver bread and water or MRE's... They cant come out till they're done.. and they dont get paid while they're in there.
