Hi, we currently have 6 happy healthy chickens and where wondering what type of poultry(or other) we should get next(not more chickens, and we have 2 dogs, but don't be limited by that) we have plenty of space but don't want peacocks:p. Thanks!

I have four Pekin ducks, whom I absolutely love! If that is something that would interest you, but for warning they make a lot of mud and slop. So unless you aren't into that I'd recommend looking into them. I also Have a Pilgrim gander and he is super sweet! I got him when my drake (male duck) was taken by a fox, to protect my hens (female ducks). Geese aren't very messy in my opinion and are very easy and cheap to feed if you are able to free range.

I don't have Guinea hens and have heard they can be very loud. Turkey I think are nice, but again can be pretty loud at times as well I believe.

As for birds, turkeys are awesome. They have sweet personalities. Guineas are really loud and annoying. Good for keeping bugs down. I have ducks and they are really messy. More so than chickens. They are nice enough though.

After chickens, I got goats and I love goats. They are pretty easy to take care of and if you get them tame or tame them down, they are like big friendly dogs. Pigs are easy, if you can make a secure pen. They just need scraps and some feed. And you can get meat out of them or sell the piglets. I have guinea hogs. Slow to grow, but stay smallish compared to farm pigs.

We got rabbits before chickens, Californians, they are super easy so far, but haven't bred mine yet, had to wait on it to cool down. No noise, not a ton of mess, we have our hutch with a tote underneath to catch the manure to put into the garden, so great fertilizer!

Pheasants are cool birds to have around. Males are very showy and add a lot of color to the barnyard. The plain old Ringneck are nice, but there are many other varieties.

Quail are nice birds. I like the Bobwhites as they will recall to their pen at night fairly easily.

Turkey are decent. Some males can be a pain.

Geese and ducks make a mess everywhere they go.
